Millwork Estimator
- Detailed drawing and specification knowledge
- Consistently work together with estimating team, customers, self-perform Manager, and subcontractors/suppliers while strictly adhering to defined department best practices and procedures
- Understand specific operating costs and track changes with the goal to maintain accurate estimate development in line with up-to-date production and installation rates
- Work with owners and designers as needed to problem solve/value engineer and develop product designs and solutions that work to fit appropriate cost goals for specific projects
- Assist in the maintenance and updating of the estimating software
- Promote innovation while applying vision to develop an ever-evolving estimating department
- Maintain and update a growing customer database with frequent customer outreach to maximize opportunities
- Batch and organize all relevant documents, takeoffs, sketches and job information to facilitate an effective handoff to PM team, such that all takeoff work and financials are clear and can be used to effectively execute the
- Maintain a commitment to understand and promote leadership development and provide effective influence to all team members and customers
- 5+ years of relevant experience in casework/millwork
- 1+ years estimating experience and leading teams in the casework/millwork
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with various office software, estimating software, and a basic understanding of millwork assemblies, costs, fabrication, and installation
- Strong ability to organize, prioritize and work under
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Confident, articulate, and professional speaking
- Excellent writing/editing and architectural and shop drawing reading

- As assigned by VP Estimating, independently reviews blueprints and accurately identifies specific millwork requirements according to those blueprints and published specifications.
- On a timely basis, submits RFIs to General Contractor and follows up as needed.
- Utilizes (1) company price guidelines to price all millwork produced internally, (2) secures prices from multitude of vendors for materials required from external sources, and (3) works with VP Purchasing to price finishing, solid surface, and installation requirements.
- Summits bid according to requirements provided by General Contractor
- Within a reasonable period of time, follows up with General Contractor on the status of the bid.
- May be required to attend scope meeting with General Contractor
- May be required to provide value engineering suggestions to General Contractor
- When a bid is successful, collaborates with the assigned Project Manager in identifying and explaining the requirements for millwork.
- May be required to price, or assist with pricing, Change Orders as requested by the Project Manager.
- College Degree or minimum of 2 years of trade school architectural design
- 5 years’ experience in similar capacity with commercial architectural millwork company with sales of >$10,000,000
- Detailed oriented and able to work independently
- Highly organized and successful in meeting deadlines
- Very familiar with AWI Quality Standards
- Strong computer skills
- Very familiar with all forms of architectural millwork materials

Job Description Responsible for profitably estimating job opportunities for millwork projects of varying size and complexity. Estimates are derived from the bidder’s ability to accurately predict the amount of fabrication, finishing, and installation hours, in addition to the cost of raw materials for every unique project. A successful estimator must have an expansive hands-on knowledge of various fabrication and installation processes to meet the minimum requirements of this position. The Estimator will review bid invites and other opportunities as they arise to determine whether Company will accept or decline the invitation. Estimator’s primary responsibility is compiling project estimates and ensure Company commitments in regard to the bid schedule are accomplished. Effectively communicating and promptly following-up with external clients is an essential function required to be successful in this position.Eligibility Requirements · Estimate number of fab, finish, and install hours required to complete the project, along with assessing cost and availability of raw goods. · Develop and maintain a daily bid schedule, and adhere to customer’s deadlines · Assess bid opportunities to determine feasibility of providing proposals on promising prospects. · Plot, read, interpret, and understand architectural and shop drawings · Complete takeoffs of architectural bid drawings then compile pricing estimate and a project scope of work using tools and software available · Research & source specified materials and obtain price quotes from vendors, suppliers, or subcontractors · Price, negotiate, compose, and issuance of project proposals to clientele · Negotiate with prospects throughout bid stages; provide value engineering, breakdown pricing, alternates · Participate in both internal/external meetings to actively collaborate with coordination of project requirements · Communicate with clients, vendors, and team members via phone, email, fax, or in person on a daily basis. - Working directly with architects, contractors, and project managers to prepare estimates for millwork and commercial casework.
- Helping to prepare detailed take offs by using plan sets provided by architects and contractors.
- Reviewing detailed specifications to determine material types to be used and putting into a detailed spreadsheet used by our engineers on the production drawings.
- Reviewing provided drawings for completeness and accuracy to develop a complete scope coverage.
- Using various computer programs Excel, Word and other proprietary software. Use of some auto-cad is also required.
- Help develop project schedules and schedules of value breakdowns for the projects once they are landed.
- Documenting your work for future use by engineering teams.
- Collecting data and incorporating this information into a form to be used by drafters and engineers.
- The individual must have experience with computers.
- Individual needs to be able to demonstrate experience doing similar work using AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
- Good communication skills are a must along with the ability to learn quickly as the job is fast paced and has set timelines for completion.

Eligibility Requirement
Read, interpret, and understand architectural drawings and specification documents
Generate material take-off lists and costs
Obtain bids from vendors on specialty items
Understand estimating and production as they relate to shop drawings, material yield, and labor
Ability to interpret architectural prints and specs, takeoff information, and any additional information from sales to properly communicate customer expectations to production
