Job Description Work with clients to accurately estimate millwork projects in a clear, timely and efficient manner to be handed off to project management once awarded. Manage calls, and emails from clients, vendors or team members to ensure all issues are handled and properly addressed with all pertaining personnel to ensure customer satisfaction. Ensure all take-offs are completed in a timely manner with a degree of accuracy, scope, cost and reflect the unique needs of each client. Ensure bids are set-up and kept ready to submit before review Ensure change orders, and red-line revisions are handled quickly and recorded thoroughly. Make sure handoffs are completed and that information is complete and recorded so project management can reference at any given time. Eligibility Requirements Expert understanding of Microsoft office products. Experience in Excel based estimating. Extensive knowledge and understanding of millwork and related hardware, items and terms. Excellent blueprint and architectural drawings acumen. Knowledge of material vendor and materials used. Job Description Responsible for profitably estimating job opportunities for millwork projects of varying size and complexity. Estimates are derived from the bidder’s ability to accurately predict the amount of fabrication, finishing, and installation hours, in addition to the cost of raw materials for every unique project. A successful estimator must have an expansive hands-on knowledge of various fabrication and installation processes to meet the minimum requirements of this position. The Estimator will review bid invites and other opportunities as they arise to determine whether Company will accept or decline the invitation. Estimator’s primary responsibility is compiling project estimates and ensure Company commitments in regard to the bid schedule are accomplished. Effectively communicating and promptly following-up with external clients is an essential function required to be successful in this position.Eligibility Requirements · Estimate number of fab, finish, and install hours required to complete the project, along with assessing cost and availability of raw goods. · Develop and maintain a daily bid schedule, and adhere to customer’s deadlines · Assess bid opportunities to determine feasibility of providing proposals on promising prospects. · Plot, read, interpret, and understand architectural and shop drawings · Complete takeoffs of architectural bid drawings then compile pricing estimate and a project scope of work using tools and software available · Research & source specified materials and obtain price quotes from vendors, suppliers, or subcontractors · Price, negotiate, compose, and issuance of project proposals to clientele · Negotiate with prospects throughout bid stages; provide value engineering, breakdown pricing, alternates · Participate in both internal/external meetings to actively collaborate with coordination of project requirements · Communicate with clients, vendors, and team members via phone, email, fax, or in person on a daily basis. Job description We are looking for a Commercial Millwork/Cabinet Estimator with experience to work in creating accurate estimates for large commercial projects. We are a growing laminate cabinet and architectural millwork manufacturer making commercial cabinetry and other furnishings for large schools, hospitals, public event areas and other commercial buildings. What you will be doing:
  • Working directly with architects, contractors, and project managers to prepare estimates for millwork and commercial casework.
  • Helping to prepare detailed take offs by using plan sets provided by architects and contractors.
  • Reviewing detailed specifications to determine material types to be used and putting into a detailed spreadsheet used by our engineers on the production drawings.
  • Reviewing provided drawings for completeness and accuracy to develop a complete scope coverage.
  • Using various computer programs Excel, Word and other proprietary software. Use of some auto-cad is also required.
What else will you being doing:
  • Help develop project schedules and schedules of value breakdowns for the projects once they are landed.
  • Documenting your work for future use by engineering teams.
  • Collecting data and incorporating this information into a form to be used by drafters and engineers.
This position requires a smart, detail-oriented person who can read blueprints in detail including plan pages, elevations, and finish schedules. An individual who can interpret drawings to create a detailed estimate. But technical expertise is not the only thing. We are also wanting to find is: Someone who takes their job seriously (i.e., shows up ahead of time, comes ready to work, and demonstrates by their own example what a good work ethic is supposed to look like). Someone who is self-disciplined and self-directed to be able to stay on-task and works well without a high degree of direct supervision. Must be a team player. There are a few requirements for the job that must be met:
  • The individual must have experience with computers.
  • Individual needs to be able to demonstrate experience doing similar work using AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
  • Good communication skills are a must along with the ability to learn quickly as the job is fast paced and has set timelines for completion.
  • Must be willing to do what it takes to complete the bidding process, including overtime if required to meet deadlines.
  • All applicants must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and be able to maintain drug-free status to work for our team.
