Summary: The operations manager is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the company’s manufacturing operations. The role is to effectively manage the development and direction of the operations team to drive the growth of revenue, increase productivity, and improve customer satisfaction. The operations manager will be overall responsible for the day to day operations as well as the development and implementation of strategic improvements. They will work with internal resources to assist in the achievement of their objectives.   Key duties and responsibilities:  
  • Develop and implement new business strategies for improving processes and procedures to improve accuracy, efficiency, minimise waste etc.
  • Translate company’s goals into departmental goals and communicate so they are understood by all levels of the operations team.
  • Responsible for the function of the Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, and project management departments.
  • Work with operational team to determine resources necessary to meet production, quality, customer service, cost and delivery goals. Add, retire, and Schedule resources as necessary.
  • Monitor financial performance, job costing, and task costing.
  • Manage safety, EPA, and quality assurance programs.
  • Manage building, tools and equipment maintenance programs.
  • Manage HR programs and conduct performance reviews.
    Qualifications
  • Possess strong leadership, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Results oriented, ability to work under pressure and within tight timelines.
  • Ability to read complex architectural, presentation and shop drawings.
  • Minimum of 10 years of similar experience.
  • Experience in hospitality casework production.
  • Experience in managing production and custom operations.

  • Monitor and control to make sure engineering is done on-time and on/under budget.
  • Implement drawing and processing automation in Engineering.
  • Direct material takeoff generation and identify long lead time items to issue requisitions to purchasing.
  • Based on scheduling priorities, work with Project Managers to make sure drawings are done on-time and released to production in time such that manufacturing can work efficiently to meet required delivery dates.
  • Coordinate with Installation crews and field issues.
  • Attend meetings with Project Management and Estimating Departments.
  • Implement drawing and processing automation in Engineering.
  • Evaluate and suggest value engineering changes that do not change the designer’s intent.
  • Individual will report to the engineering manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 5-10 years’ experience in managing architectural millwork and fixture projects.

Job summary: This position is responsible for managing the day to day activities for the engineering department, oversees all software integration, works closely with Cut-Bill Manager, Plant Manager, Field Manager & Operations team to ensure the product design meets design intent, estimated cost, & maximizes shop & field efficiencies, training of lead & support engineers, implements standards & continuous process improvements that advance engineering’s ability to manage the highest quality control that meet contractual schedules. Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Continuously evaluate processes, software platforms, and implement solutions that will increase accuracy and capacity, while reducing labor costs.
  • Continuously improve the quality of submittal drawings and establish standards to increase efficiency of submittals, RTCB or RTV.
  • Support and promote a cohesive flow of information between the Engineering and Manufacturing departments
  • Approve all time off for engineering resources and ensure the department operates productively to maintain construction schedules.
  • Act in the capacity of a lead engineer when required.
  • Work with ERP team to implement Shop PAK into the engineering & material request process.
  • Review all internal or external submittal drawings with lead engineers & operations prior to submittal.
  • Work with Cut Bill manager to implement a more efficient process that meets the shop requirements, increases accuracy, & reduces the RTS lead times.
  • Assume all managerial responsibilities regarding hiring, termination, performance reviews, expense reports, & promotions.
  • Work with field manager to ensure product design is efficient & cost conscious with regards to offload & installation.
  • Ensure the casework manufacturing process & software is efficient, flexible, & cost effective.
  • Develop, maintain, & implement a defined schedule & clear process for outsourcing submittals & RTV drawings to insure they are submitted correctly and on time.
  • Maintain a capacity scheduling tool that will identify accurate/data driven capacity constraints and availability in the Engineering and Cut-Bill departments
  • Review all Material Request costs with estimated budgets to ensure departments are cost conscience & a profit center.
  • Manage the departmental annual budget to the realistic targets provided.
  • Implement strategies by identifying early opportunities for screen to machine and/or direct RTS.
  • Work with Operations Team to ensure all manufacturing departments are consistently at 90% capacity.

  • Millwork production experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet software.
  • Knowledgeable in architectural millwork and casework production methods and fabrication techniques.
  • Experienced with CNC manufacturing.

Summary Our customer is a manufacturer and installer of commercial casework and custom residential cabinets, seeking an individual with strong Microvellum skills and experience.  Must have solid working knowledge and understating of wood industry and related best practices.  Will be responsible for performing at top level to provide submittal drawings and accurate drawings and information to support overall process from Project management through production and installation.  Must be a self-starter, possess a positive, can-do attitude, excellent problem solver while thinking strategically about impact through the process.   Minimum requirements
  • Minimum 5-years in Microvellum operating within a casework or related discipline.
  • Ability to read, interpret and convey architectural drawings.
  • Strong background in Engineering methodologies and best practices.
  • Understanding or multiple construction methods (Dowel, mortise/tenon, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively prioritize to ensure timely completion.
  • Possess a high level of quality while meeting or exceeding schedules.
  • Strong and disciplined work ethic.

  Responsibilities
  • Understand and interpret information and drawings from Architectural drawings and multiple sources (PM’s, Estimating, material specifications, etc.).
  • Produce submittal drawings in accordance with specifications.
  • Produce clear and accurate information, drawings, and directions for manufacturing.
  • Maintain or exceed schedules.
  • Support Manufacturing, Installation, and other departments to ensure successful project execution.
  • Work with Purchasing and other departments on material requirements and specifications.
  • Produced needed paperwork to support Manufacturing and project releases.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Duties:
  • As assigned by VP Estimating, independently reviews blueprints and accurately identifies specific millwork requirements according to those blueprints and published specifications.
  • On a timely basis, submits RFIs to General Contractor and follows up as needed.
  • Utilizes (1) company price guidelines to price all millwork produced internally, (2) secures prices from multitude of vendors for materials required from external sources, and (3) works with VP Purchasing to price finishing, solid surface, and installation requirements.
  • Summits bid according to requirements provided by General Contractor
  • Within a reasonable period of time, follows up with General Contractor on the status of the bid.
  • May be required to attend scope meeting with General Contractor
  • May be required to provide value engineering suggestions to General Contractor
  • When a bid is successful, collaborates with the assigned Project Manager in identifying and explaining the requirements for millwork.
  • May be required to price, or assist with pricing, Change Orders as requested by the Project Manager.
  Preferred requirements:
  • College Degree or minimum of 2 years of trade school architectural design
  • 5 years’ experience in similar capacity with commercial architectural millwork company with sales of >$10,000,000
  • Detailed oriented and able to work independently
  • Highly organized and successful in meeting deadlines
  • Very familiar with AWI Quality Standards
  • Strong computer skills
  • Very familiar with all forms of architectural millwork materials
