Overview
We are seeking a skilled Architectural Millwork Specialist to join our team. This role involves preparing and updating detailed digital drawings for projects, managing CAD data, and coordinating with production and installation teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in AutoCAD, CNC machine code, and a strong understanding of woodworking technology.
Responsibilities
Create Shop Drawings: Utilize AutoCAD software to develop detailed shop drawings.
Interpret Architectural Drawings: Read and interpret architectural drawings and bid documents.
Design Documentation: Create detailed design documentation and specifications.
Material Research: Assist in the selection and research of materials for products.
Client Communication: Maintain good communication with clients to ensure drawings meet or exceed expectations.
Work Sequencing: Recommend work sequencing in conjunction with the Production Manager.
Revise and Update Drawings: Collaborate with the Project Manager to revise and update existing drawings, ensuring consistent documentation of the project.
Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Technical Support: Provide technical expertise to the project execution team throughout various project phases.
Documentation Maintenance: Maintain notes, design calculations, and other documentation (e.g., drawings, bill of materials, design parameters, performance guarantees) in electronic files.
Cost-Effective Solutions: Develop innovative ideas and alternatives to be cost-competitive where possible.
Hand-Off Meetings: Participate in hand-off meetings to ensure the team has a complete understanding of the project, production schedule, and installation requirements.
Education and Experience
AutoCAD Experience: Minimum of three years of experience with AutoCAD and associated tools.
Architectural Plan Interpretation: Minimum of three years of experience in reading and interpreting architectural plans and specifications to produce accurate shop drawings.
Commercial Millwork Experience: Experience in commercial millwork.
Woodworking Technology: Thorough understanding of woodworking technology, including CNC, edge banding, doweling, and clamps.
Preferred Qualifications
CNC Machine Code: Experience in sending code from AutoCAD to CNC machines.
Microvellum Familiarity: Familiarity with Microvellum software is a plus but not required.
